I enjoyed the course. I particularly liked the discussions about recognizing the different element of wines, the origins of different types of wines and grapes, the logical structure of the course with champagne, white, red and sweet wines classes.
since this was an introductory session, I suggest that more time should be spend at the very start on general information regarding the basis of wine production, the techniques of wine testing, the overview of wine industry in Australia and its different regions, wine storage, and even some "table manners" regarding wine presentation and consumption. I think it would make the course more complete.
I would also be interested in more direction from the presenters about what to look for during wine testing. I think we got more of this kind of good "teaching" approach from Anya during our final dinner. this would make a real difference to the quality of the course since this was not just wine testing but introduction to wine course.
Overall , it was fun and very enjoyable experience.
Phil and his team of dedicated wine enthusiasts introduced me to wines which I never even knew existed. The classes were informative and casual, and the environment was facilitative and collaborative as everyone was trying to understand what it was about wine that took their fancy. The course was well structured, and it is undeniable that the content that was presented has helped me to appreciate wine a whole lot more than when I started the course. I recommend this course for a budding wine enthusiast and anyone who wants to be exposed to a few more exotic varietals,.
