would recommnd the palate trainer to anyone whether they are starting out on their wine journey or regular and knowledgable imbibers. I would also recommend the course to industry professionals looking to develop their palate more fully. Too much emphasis can sometimes be placed on wine 'flavours' whereas the palate trainer delves into the 'structure' of wine looking at individual components such as acid, sugar levels, tannin, alcohol, sulphides and wine faults. Having a basic understanding of these wine components and how to identify can greatly enhance the overall wine experience.
Phil is obviously an expert on wine and knows how to communicate his passion for this vast subject. It was very interesting to taste the different aspects of wine in isolation. I learnt a lot and I was glad to purchase a bottle of my beloved Durif, knowing it had been carefully selected and properly stored by Phil and his team.
This course was perfect for all levels of wine lover, Phil is an excellent host, combining passion, humor and knowledge into a 2 hr laugh fest. His knowledge and ability to make everyone understand is second to none and we look forward to the next course.
